As part of our continued effort to providing ‘information for all’, this site has been created in partnership with Sign-Now, Transport Scotland and ScotRail for trial. The information has been summarised to help Deaf passengers who use (BSL) language and it is hoped that this will help those who travel or are planning to travel with us to understand what we are doing to help disabled people.
ScotRail is part of FirstGroup and operate 95% of rail services in Scotland plus Sleeper trains to London. We operate 342 stations and run more than 2100 services a day.
Our commitment is providing all passengers with good level of service as well as complying with legislation relating to disabled people and transport.

We developed a Disabled Persons Protection Policy booklet which sets out the procedures and policies which we have in place to help people with disabilities. The document is available on our website to download or hard copies can be obtained by writing, emailing, or telephoning our Customer Relations Team in Fort William. We also produce alternative formats such as Braille and Large Print within two weeks of receiving the request.

About a third of our stations are fully accessible and if you would like to get more details, please, refer to our website, Station Facilities. Some of our stations are staffed while some have automatic barriers and therefore all passengers would need to retain their tickets. At the following stations: Brunstane, Camelon, Kirkcaldy, Larbert, Lenzie and both Queen Street High and Low Level, we have installed RNIB REACT - an audibled directional system for visually impaired passengers. A fob is needed to trigger the system to work and for more details, please see Disabled assistance on the website.

We operate different types of trains, some of which are fully compliant and others are of old type, and therefore are not compliant. More details of the types of trains we operate can be found in section B of the Disabled Persons Protection Policy document.
