Pedal for less at Blair Atholl

Visitors to Blair Atholl now have even more opportunity to take in the breathtaking local scenery – thanks to a great new partnership.

ScotRail has teamed up with Blair Atholl cycle hire business Basecamp Bikes to provide customers with a chance to hire bicycles at discounted rates.

A similar offer was launched last April in partnership with Fort William cycle hire company Off Beat Bikes.

Customers simply show their valid rail ticket on arrival at Basecamp Bikes’ premises at The Firs Guest House, just a short walk from Blair Atholl Station – which is served by the Caledonian Sleeper service to and from London Euston.

The glens of Highland Perthshire stretch deep into the hills that form the approach to the Cairngorm National Park, and offer a variety of itineraries to suit all ages and energies.

Desmond Bradley, Transport Integration Manager at ScotRail, said: “We are delighted with this partnership. It offers a great opportunity for people to experience everything that Highland Perthshire has to offer.”

He added: “We would also like to hear from other cycle hire companies interested in offering similar deals.”

Geoff Crerar of Basecamp Bikes added: “Many people come to Highland Perthshire looking for fresh air and to get away from the rush of daily life. Cycling provides a perfect way to do this and I am confident that this partnership will be a hit with families as well as groups of friends and independent cyclists.”

A 10% discounts is available for a full or half-day hire, with a trial 20% for holders of the Freedom of Scotland Travelpass. With summer here, there isn’t a better time to get out into the fresh air and enjoy a full day or two in the saddle.
