Guidelines for rail enthusiasts who wish to take photographs at stations have been published by ScotRail.
They detail the procedures that should be followed by those undertaking photography for private purposes – or for publication in relevant magazines.
By following the ScotRail station photography guidelines, enthusiasts can ensure themselves a safe and enjoyable experience – while being fully compliant with requirements in emergency situations.
Much of the advice focuses on photographers alerting station staff to their presence or – if arriving at an unstaffed station – signing in and out via platform Help Points.
ScotRail has made this process even easier by providing an online declaration that can be printed, signed and given to station staff on arrival – along with a form of personal identification, such as a valid bank card or driving licence.
Enthusiast photographers are urged to refrain from trespassing on the tracks, using flash photography at the risk of distracting drivers, and congregating at busy areas of the platform.
ScotRail’s managing director Steve Montgomery says: "We welcome responsible enthusiasts, who can play a valuable role in promoting awareness of our services, and believe that we have now put in place a simple procedure which ensures that they will have a safe and enjoyable experience at our stations."
