Monday 31 August 2009

People heading for Leuchars Airshow on Saturday 12 September can take advantage of a special all-in-one deal from ScotRail that includes return rail travel to Leuchars from any station in Scotland plus entry to the show.

Advance bookings made until Friday 11 September attract a £4 discount on adult tickets – so it really does pay to book beforehand.

ScotRail has organised extra seats and additional trains to and from Leuchars.

Due to planned rail improvement works on 12 September, customers are advised to leave plenty of time for their journey.

Queuing systems will be in place at key stations before and after the event, and extra staff will be on hand to assist customers.

Other ticket options may be available. Customers should enquire at the time of booking. For example, families heading to Leuchars may also wish to consider ScotRail’s popular Kids Go Free ticket.  This allows up to two children aged up to 15 to travel free off-peak when accompanied by a fare paying adult purchasing a Kids Go Free ticket.

The train journeys to Leuchars may involve catching connecting trains. Customers should be aware that, due to the amount of people travelling, connecting services cannot be guaranteed.

Planned engineering works on 12 September will affect those travelling from Glasgow Queen Street, Falkirk High, Polmont, Linlithgow, Stirling, Larbert, Falkirk Grahamston and Perth.  As a result journey times may take longer than usual.

• Customers travelling from Glasgow Queen Street, Falkirk High, Polmont or Linlithgow should travel to Edinburgh (Haymarket or Waverley) and change onto Edinburgh – Leuchars services.  Edinburgh – Glasgow express services will run every 30 minutes in both directions until 1930.
• Customers travelling from Stirling, Larbert or Falkirk Grahamston should transfer onto Edinburgh services at Linlithgow – where these services will terminate – and then change onto Edinburgh – Leuchars services.
• Customers travelling from Perth should travel to Dundee and then change onto Dundee – Leuchars services.  There is an hourly service between Perth and Dundee.
