Changes to Car Parking Facilities at Aberdeen Station

From Saturday 19 January 2008, all car parking for Aberdeen Station will be incorporated within the multi-storey car park on College Street. The multi-storey car park at College Street has ten floors. The bottom five floors will be designated as Aberdeen Station Car Park and will be managed by First ScotRail for the use of rail customers. On entering College Street car park, signage will direct you to the LOWER floors if you are a station user or the upper floors if parking for the city centre. The station is linked to College Street multi-storey car park via a walkway.

Enhancements

The relocation allows First ScotRail to offer our customers more parking spaces in a clean, bright and secure facility. Improvements to the First ScotRail station car park levels at College Street include: • New lighting • New CCTV and recording facilities • Vehicle barrier entry • Installation of pedestrian walkways • On-site help • Regular security patrols • Refurbished stairwells • Fault reporting and maintenance regime • New and upgraded lifts

Blue Badge Facilities

College Street station car park will contain six blue badge holder parking bays. These are located on the same floor as the pedestrian exit to the station. Newly installed lifts within Aberdeen station will provide access to the concourse and platforms previously inaccessible to wheelchair users.  

Operation

College Street station car park will operate a Pay-On-Exit control system. On entry, you will take a ticket to open a barrier, park your vehicle and enter the station. On returning to the car park you will require to pay on foot at a payment station prior to exiting. New payment equipment will be installed at the pedestrian exit from the College Street multi- storey car park to the station.

Drop Off/Pick Up

To facilitate drop off and pick up, there will be no charge for the first 20 minutes of station car park use. Customers who enter and then exit the car park within this time will not be charged.

Bicycles

Bicycle parking facilities will be included within the College Street station car park.

Tariffs

Tariffs will remain at the current rates with the addition of the 20 minute free drop-off: 0-20 minutes FREE 20 minutes-4 hours £3.50 Daily £6.00  

Hours of Opening

The station car park will be open to the public from 5.00am to 1.00am each day.

Future Parking Changes at Aberdeen Station

Early in 2008, a new main entrance will be created for Aberdeen station as part of the Union Square retail development. Adjacent to this new entrance will be a small car park. Once available, our intention is to relocate the majority of the blue badge holder parking, bicycle parking and drop off areas to this car park. Credit and debit card facilities will be provided on the car park payment systems early in 2008.

Please note that the top five floors of the College Street multi-storey car park are owned and operated by a private company whose tariffs and operating conditions will differ from those of the station car park.
