Late night service boost for Lanarkshire

First ScotRail is to run extra late night services from Glasgow to Lanarkshire on Friday nights.

Routes covered include Airdrie, Bellshill, Burnside, Carluke, Cleland, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Motherwell, Wishaw, Lanark - and Larkhall, whose station opened in December last year.

The trains will depart Glasgow just before or after midnight, allowing customers extra time in the city.

The enhancements are included in First ScotRail's winter timetable which comes into effect on Sunday 10 December.

Some 18 routes in Strathclyde will receive the extra late night trains.

Mary Dickson, First ScotRail's managing director, said: "We are confident that these enhancements to the winter timetable will have a positive effect on the quality of service we provide for our customers."

The new Lanarkshire services are:
A 23.40 Partick-Lanark train, departing Glasgow Central Low Level at 2347, Argyle Street at 23.49, and among other stops calling at Rutherglen at 23.57, Cambuslang 00.01, Uddingston 00.05, Bellshill 00.10, Motherwell 00.16, Shieldmuir (00.20, Wishaw 00.23, Carluke 00.30, arriving Lanark at 00.42

A 23.42 Milngavie-Motherwell train , departing Glasgow Central Low Level at seven minutes after midnight, Argyle Street at 00.09 and among other stops calling at Rutherglen 00.16, Cambuslang 00.20, Newton 00.24, Blantyre 00.28, Hamilton West 00.31, Hamilton Central 00.33, Airbles 00.38, arriving Motherwell at 00.41

A 23.31 Dalmuir-Larkhall train, departing Glasgow Central Low Level at 23.57, Argyle Street at 23.59, then Rutherglen 00.04, Blantyre 00.14, Hamilton West 00.17, Hamilton Central 00.20, Chatelherault 00.24, Merryton 00.28, arriving Larkhall at 00.30

A 00.10 Glasgow Central - Newton calling at Pollokshields East 00.14; Queens Park 00.16, Crosshill 00.17, Mount Florida 00.19, Kings Park 00.21; Croftfoot 00.23; Burnside 00.26, Kirkhill 00.29, arriving Newton at 00.32
