ScotRail have introduced new automatic ticket gates at Anderston, Argyle Street, Charing Cross and Glasgow Central Low Level stations and work on Glasgow Central High Level is underway. These gates will ensure the smooth flow of customers during peak hours, helping to avoid congestion and queues at platforms.
Automatic gates have also been installed at other key stations across the network and have been successful in reducing the number of people travelling without a ticket, as well as discouraging antisocial behaviour and improving station security.
Passengers using ticket gates will need to buy and retain a valid ticket before travelling to allow quick and easy access to and from the station. Although the gates accept the majority of ticket types, staff will also be on hand to assist holders of other ticket, disabled passengers and passengers with prams, buggies, bikes or significant amounts of luggage. Ticket-buying facilities and Help Points will also be available before entering/exiting the gates.
