2020 Christmas and New Year train times

Last updated:
Friday, 11 December 2020

We're here for essential travel over the festive period.

As always, train times will be different from the normal train timetable over Christmas and New Year. You can find out route specific information below or by using Journey Planner or the ScotRail app.

Following the latest Scottish Government advice, you should only travel by train from 26 December if your journey is essential. If you must travel, it's important you follow our Five Rules for Safer Travel to keep yourself, other passengers and the ScotRail team safe.

If you have purchased a ticket from us that you can no longer use, please visit our Refunds page.

On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the last trains will depart earlier than normal. And as with previous years, no trains will run on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.

From Sunday 27 until Thursday 31 December, an amended timetable will operate between Glasgow Queen Street, Falkirk High, Stirling and beyond. You can find out the details below or by using Journey Planner or the ScotRail app.

On Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 January, 2021, an amended timetable will affect trains between Glasgow Central, Newton, Neilston, East Kilbride, Kilmarnock and Carlisle.

If you have any questions before you travel or while you’re travelling, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via social media or by chatting to a member of the ScotRail team. We’re always happy to help.

Plan your festive journey here or scroll down for last train times and changes to timetables.

Services will run as normal until around 7pm, when services will begin to wind down. Use the drop downs to see the time of the last train on each route.
