Two men working at the ScotRail Alliance have been recognised for their fundraising efforts.

Stewart Wilson cycled the 45 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh and raised a total of £615 for Prostate Scotland. His colleague, Stevie Graham, raised £280 for Cancer Research UK by taking part in a 5km sponsored walk while dressed head-to-toe in pink.

The pair are shift managers at Glasgow’s Shields and Corkerhill depots, and both successfully applied for funding from the ScotRail Alliance’s employee charitable giving fund. This brought their overall totals to £865 and £530 respectively.

This year over £6,000 has been donated by the ScotRail Alliance to charities nominated by staff. This is in addition to the £33,000 raised for the business’ charity partner, MND Scotland.

Stewart said:

“It’s great to know that I’ve raised so much for a great cause, especially since the company have added an extra £250. I was very proud to represent the charity and I'm sure my dad would have approved.

“Prostate cancer is something that needs to be talked about, and I’m keen to raise awareness among my colleagues in the depot.”

Stevie said:

“I’m delighted to have raised so much, and it’s great that my employer have almost doubled my fundraising total.

“Cancer is an awful disease, and I want to do what I can to end the suffering that it brings.”
