ScotRail Alliance advises customers of changes to train times between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central

Last updated: Thursday, 6 July 2017

The ScotRail Alliance is urging customers on the Edinburgh to Glasgow (via Shotts) route to check their journey times before they travel, as improvement works are taking place over two Sundays in July.

As part of our work to build the best railway that Scotland has ever had, buses will replace trains on 16 and 23 July while preparatory work is completed ahead of the line being electrified. This will allow us to deliver faster trains, more seats and better services. Replacement buses will be in use over the full length of the route and departure times will be revised.

Services between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Motherwell are unaffected.

Rob Shorthouse, ScotRail Alliance communications director, said: “We are doing a lot of work to build the best railway Scotland has ever had. That’s ultimately going to deliver faster trains, more seats and better services. While we are making those improvements some services will be disrupted, so we would encourage people to plan ahead by visiting our website or downloading the ScotRail app.”
