Service disruption

Last updated: Sunday, 8 May 2022

We are currently experiencing a driver shortage, which means some services will be cancelled.

An emergency timetable is also in place following a low-speed derailment at Coatbridge Sunnyside, which has resulted in the closure of the line in that area.

If you’re travelling on the ScotRail network, please check your journey before travel by downloading the ScotRail app or visiting scotrail.co.uk.

We are reliant on drivers working overtime – known as rest day working – because of delays to training new drivers caused by the pandemic.

Unfortunately, since the drivers’ union ASLEF announced its intention to recommend a ballot for strike action after receiving an offer of a 2.2 per cent pay increase, a significant number of drivers, but not all, have declined to make themselves available for overtime or rest day working.

The offer of a 2.2 per cent pay increase for 22/23 comes after three increases in pay between 2019 and 2020.
