Temporary closure of Carnoustie station car park during The Open

Last updated: Wednesday, 13 June 2018

The ScotRail Alliance is advising customers who use Carnoustie station to plan ahead, as the station car park will be closed for 12 days due to The Open Championship.

With tens of thousands of fans expected to visit the Angus town over the course of the event, the station car park will be converted into a temporary queuing area to ensure everyone’s journey to and from the golf is safe and hassle-free.

Anyone who uses the station car park is asked to ensure they have removed their vehicles by 11:59pm on Wednesday 11 July.

Customers with limited mobility whose travel plans may be affected are being encouraged to contact the ScotRail assisted travel team by calling 0800 912 2901 (Textphone 18001 0800 912 2 901) or by visiting the ScotRail website.

Further travel advice for fans heading to the The Open will be issued in the coming weeks.

ScotRail Alliance Head of Customer Experience Graham Heald said:

“We’re delighted to be welcoming golf fans and The Open Championship back to Carnoustie.

“It’s going to be a busy week, so we’ll be installing a queuing system at Carnoustie station to help things go smoothly. That means the station car park will be closed during the event.

“While the car park is closed, we will be making alternative arrangements to ensure everyone can access the station.”
