Upgraded cycling facilities at ScotRail stations
ScotRail customers at Partick can now benefit from more bike spaces as part of a network-wide programme to improve cycle parking at stations.
The new cycle storage at Partick provides space for 144 bikes, and is part of a wider project that will see 382 additional covered cycle parking spaces installed across the country by Spring 2018.
The focus of this initiative is on making it easier for customers to have a sustainable journey, and to create more demand for cycling to busy commuter stations by providing improved facilities.
Nine other stations have also benefitted from new cycle spaces this year:
- Dyce (45 additional cycle spaces)
- Perth (66)
- Falkirk High (24)
- Dalmeny (20)
- Prestwick Town (14)
- Blantyre (20)
- Beauly (20)
- Dumbarton Central (10)
ScotRail Alliance Cycling Manager Kathryn Mackay said:
“We want to join up journeys across Scotland, and that includes ScotRail customers whose journeys start and end by bike.
“The ScotRail Alliance has delivered unprecedented investment in cycling in recent years, with the introduction of Bike&Go at 12 train stations across Scotland, and over 1,200 extra bike spaces installed across the network.
“More and more of our customers are using bikes as part of their daily commute or leisure travel, and we are confident that the new facilities at Partick will encourage more people to cycle as part of their journey.”
