Head to the Royal Highland Show

Celebrating its 179th year, The Royal Highland Show is one of Scotland's most iconic events, showcasing the very best of farming food and rural life.

Royal Highland Show worker and cowIt takes place on the outskirts of Edinburgh from Thursday 20 until Sunday 23 June, and attracts visitors from all over the country.

You can get up close to the country's top quality livestock with 6,500 of the finest animals on show, taste exceptional food and drink, and experience rural living at its most vibrant. Kids will love to see the huge variety of farming machinery on display.

With over 900 competitions taking place including, Livestock, Pole Climbing, the Scottish Ice Cream Championships, Handcrafts and Sheep Shearing, it’s a great day out for everyone.

Kids for a Quid

With our Kids for a Quid ticket, up to four kids can travel for £1 each when accompanied by a paying adult.

Under 15’s get free entry to the Royal Highland Show so it’s a great value family day out.

Getting there…

We provide train services from all over the country to Edinburgh stations where you can then connect on to the showground.

There are dedicated bus services from the stations listed below:

Edinburgh Waverley: Lothian Bus Service 98 runs from George Street East End - just a five minute walk from the station.
Haymarket: Lothian Bus Service 98.
Edinburgh Park: Lothian Bus Service 97 runs from the bus stop on the north side of the station.
Edinburgh Gateway: Lothian Bus Service 97 runs from the station concourse.

The show is easily reached by tram too. Hop off the train at Waverley, Haymarket, Edinburgh Park or Edinburgh Gateway Station and take the tram to Ingliston P&R. Then follow the Green walking route to the South Entrance of the showground.

Please note - PLUSBUS tickets are not valid on Lothian Bus Services 97 and 98.
