Over the next few weeks, major improvement works will be taking place on routes across the Central Belt as we work to build the best railway Scotland's ever had.
The vast majority of these works will take place at weekends, although some will take place on weekdays, and we will be doing all we can to keep you moving.
Trains may be replaced by buses for some or all of the journey, and some services may be diverted or take longer than normal.
We recommend that you plan your journey in advance, and leave plenty of extra time for travel.
Glasgow Central - Lanark
Services diverted via Mount Florida and won't call at Cambuslang.
Glasgow Central - Newton
All services will be extended to Motherwell/Larkhall.
Milngavie - Motherwell/Cumbernauld
Trains running only between Milngavie and Rutherglen.
Balloch/Dalmuir - Larkhall/Motherwell

- 2323 and 2351 Lanark - Motherwell terminate Wishaw.
- 0548 and 0622 Motherwell - Lanark cancelled.
- 0652 Motherwell - Lanark starts from Wishaw at 0657
Glasgow Central - Newton
These will operate to/from Larkhall, stops between Glasgow Central and Newton are same as normal.
Milngavie - Motherwell/Cumbernauld
Trains running only between Milngavie and Dalmarnock.
Balloch/Dalmuir - Larkhall/Motherwell
Trains running only between Balloch/Dalmuir and Dalmarnock.
Glasgow Central - Edinburgh via Carstairs
- Buses replace trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Carstairs.
- 0548 Carstairs-Glasgow will start from Lanark at 0547, and will call additionally at Holytown – but will not stop at Motherwell and Shieldmuir.
- 0600 Motherwell - Edinburgh will start from Glasgow Central at 0545, and won't call at Motherwell.
Dalmuir - Motherwell via Whifflet
Buses replace trains between Kirkwood and Whifflet/Motherwell.
Replacement buses between:
- Hamilton Central and Motherwell/Cumbernauld
- Bridgeton and Newton
- Wishaw and Bellshill
