Put on your cosiest jacket, pull on your comfiest hat and slip your hands into some knitted mittens.

Now you’re ready for an evening at the Christmas markets. Filled with wooden huts, festive decorations and aromas to make anyone hungry, Scotland’s Christmas markets are a great way to spend a chilly evening.

Edinburgh s Christmas MarketEdinburgh

When: 16 November 2019 - 4 January 2020

No city does Christmas markets quite like Edinburgh. Taking over the whole of East Princes Street Gardens, there will be huts selling lots of traditional gifts, delicious food and of course, hot mulled wine and hot chocolate. The markets are open all day long and are just as atmospheric during the day and a lot quieter too. Right next to the markets, you’ll find lots of fun rides including the much- loved Christmas train and Christmas tree maze.

Stirling

Albert Halls, Albert Place

When: Saturday 24 November 2019

The popular Christmas Market is back in the beautiful Albert Halls with a great selection of gifts to suit every budget. If you fancy making your own gift or decorations, there will be workshops held in the Lesser Hall including Wreath Making, Christmas table setting and calligraphy.

There is a £4 entry fee with £2 going to Strathcarron Hospice.

Glasgow Christmas MarketsGlasgow

When: 24 November – 29 December 2019.

Glasgow is lucky enough to have two Christmas markets again this year. One takes place in St Enoch Square and the other under the magnificent Christmas lights of George Square.

The opening times for each of the markets are:

  • St Enoch Square: Saturday 9 December – Sunday 22 December from 9am until 10pm
  • George Square: Sunday 24 November – Sunday 29 December from 10am until10pm

Both are filled with traditional swiss chalets selling traditional gifts from across the globe, including artisan products and crafts. In George Square, take a slide down the Helter Skelter or take a spin on the carousel. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Santa.

Perth

On the day of the Christmas light switch on, Perth comes alive for the festive season. With a whole host of markets and events spread over four weeks there’s lots happening for every age and budget.

Perth Festive Market

When: Thursday 14 - Sunday 17 November 2019 from 10am until 6pm.

The Festive Market starts the countdown to Perth’s official festive season with a Continental Christmas themed market offering an eclectic mix of food and crafts.

Chocolate, Gin and Things Market

When: Saturday 16 - Sunday 17 November 2019

Locally made chocolates and fabulous craft gin are a match made in heaven and this market celebrates them both. The perfect place to pick up a gift or two.

Cake Fest

When: Sunday 17 November 2019

For anyone who loves cake, prepare to be wowed when bakers from all over Perth come together to create the city and surroundings in cake-form. The nimble bakers create landmarks including the Enchanted Forest, Sheriff Court and Beatrix Potter Garden.

Dundee Christmas marketsDundee

When: 29 November – 1 December 2019

The Festive Market is taking place in the Wellgate Shopping Centre from Friday 29 November until Sunday 1 December. Browse the stalls of over 100 local business selling everything from traditional gifts to gift vouchers for a special experience for someone. There will be a number of workshops on over the weekend if you fancy creating your own gift. Some of the workshops include candle making, wreath making and t-shirt designing.

Aberdeen

Where: ​Aberdeen Christmas Village, Broad Street Area.

The Christmas in the Quad market is back and it’s going to be bigger than ever. With more stalls and more variety of gifts available, it’s well worth a visit with friends or family. It runs from Thursday to Sunday for five weeks. The Christmas Village itself will be packed again with rides, attractions, food, drink and an open-air ice rink in front of the beautiful Marischal College. Brand new for 2019, get your golfing shoes on for Christmas Crazy Golf. How much fun does that sound?!

Christmas Art, Craft & Food Fair

When: 6 - 8 December 2019

Over 70 exhibitors will be showing off their beautiful selection of unique gifts at Eden Court over three days at the beginning of December. All of the gifts available to buy are handmade in Scotland. Perfect for that special someone!

Winter Wonderland

When: 13 - 15 December 2019

Santa arrives at Whin Park for a three day holiday that the whole family will love. Take a wander through the park and enjoy the illuminations.
