Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

We’re committed to creating a culture that embraces diversity, inclusion and belonging for everyone.

Diversity at ScotRail is about your unique perspective. We want talented people from all backgrounds to have an equal opportunity to work and succeed at ScotRail. Transport impacts everyone and we’re committed to increasing the representation of people from underrepresented groups in all grades, roles and professions to better reflect the people we serve.

ScotRail is proud to have signed the Business In The Community’s Race At Work Charter. We know that people from ethnic minority backgrounds still face significant disparities in employment and progression, and that is something that needs to change. The Charter is composed of five calls to action for leaders and organisations across all sectors. We have committed to the five guiding principles of the Charter, including having an Executive Sponsor for Race and taking action that supports the recruitment and career progression of our people from a Black, Asian or minority ethnic background.

Inclusion at ScotRail is about creating a deep sense of belonging. We want ScotRail to be a place where people are valued, supported and heard to fulfil their potential. Being inclusive is an expression of our values to be customer driven, encouraging, collaborative, honest and bold. We’re nurturing an environment where people can speak up to remove barriers to success and collaborate to put the best ideas into practice.

Employee groups

We have employee networks that enable our people to build connections, develop support systems and access networking and developmental opportunities. They help us to understand our differences and similarities and improve communication around the business. They also provide support to individuals and teams and offer fresh opportunities to be involved as part of ScotRail Alliance.
