First Class £5 Intercity Upgrade

Between Monday 2 and Tuesday 31 March you can upgrade to First Class for just £5 one way on services between Scotland’s seven cities.

Travel like a VIP in a dedicated area with extra legroom, larger seats and more space to relax.

To take advantage of this great value upgrade, simply visit any booking office or speak to the conductor on board.

The offer is valid for Peak and Off-Peak travel, seven days a week.

Where can I travel to?

You can travel any distance between Scotland’s cities so you don’t need to be completing the entire journey to make the most of this great value upgrade.

Glasgow to Dundee

Enjoy the scenic 1 hour 20 minute journey through Perthshire countryside and alongside the River Tay. Once you’re in Dundee a visit to the V&A and a wander along the waterfront is a must.

Edinburgh to Aviemore

Sit back and relax in First Class as you make the journey across the iconic Forth Rail Bridge, through Fife and up into the stunning surroundings of the Cairngorms National Park. Stirling to Aberdeen

This two-hour journey takes in some of Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes – through rolling countryside, along the River Tay, then through more countryside before heading up the coast into Aberdeen. With a First Class ticket you can enjoy more space in a dedicated area. The seats are larger and there is more space available for each person. On most services, hospitality will be available so you will be served a drink and a snack at your seat. The conductor will make an announcement on the train as to whether hospitality is available.

Our First Class areas don't have wheelchair accommodation or wheelchair access to accessible toilets. To travel in First Class, wheelchair users would need to be able to transfer to a seat.​​​​
