How can I buy my ticket?

A valid photocard must be used with a Season Ticket. You can get these from any staffed ScotRail station, free of charge

When can I travel?
Whenever you choose to. Each Season Ticket has its own validity period (e.g. peak and off-peak) between your chosen stations. You can buy them for unlimited travel for a week, a month or any longer period up to a year.

Which routes can I travel on?
They're available on most routes and available on all operators' services.

Do I need to book in advance?
No, there's no need to book in advance.

Is the ticket subject to availability?
No, not at all.

Do I need to make a reservation?
No, there's no need for reservations.

Do railcard discounts apply?
Yes, if you are 16-18 and have a Young Scot National Entitlement Card you get a 50% discount.

Do child discounts apply?
Yes, there's a 50% discount for children aged 5-15. Under 5's travel free.

Can I upgrade to First Class?
Yes, Smartcard users can upgrade for only £5 off-peak, for you and three adults.

Can I get a refund?
Yes, subject to a £10 administration fee and a sufficient period of validity remaining on the ticket.

Can I make a change to my travel plans?
Yes, you can change your travel plans as you have unlimited travel on your chosen route. You can't change the validity period though.

Can I break my journey?
Yes, you can break your journey at stations along the route of travel.

Do I need a photocard?
Yes, you'll need a photocard in order to use your Season Ticket. Take a passport-size photo to any ScotRail booking office or travel centre and you'll be issued with a photocard free of charge.

What is a Strathclyde ZoneCard?
This is a flexible season ticket for unlimited travel by rail and subway in the Strathclyde area.

Where can I use it?
As well as rail and subway travel, the ZoneCard can be used on most buses and some ferries. You can use your ZoneCard wherever you see the ZoneCard logo.

How do I get one?
Visit the SPT website for more information and to buy a ZoneCard.

With a Flexipass you can use your ticket for up to either 10 or 50 single journeys across the ScotRail network.

What are the benefits?

  • It's great value if you only travel a few times each week for commuting
  • It saves time because you don't have to buy a ticket every time you travel
  • You choose when you want to use your journeys over the period of validity

How can I buy my ticket?

*Note: Your Flexipass will be sent by post so isn't available to buy online less than two days in advance.

When can I travel?

  • You can travel whenever you like between your chosen stations, as long as it's within the validity of your Flexipass ticket (e.g. peak or off-peak)
  • 10 Journey Flexipass: 10 single journeys over a one month period (non-transferable)
  • 50 Journey Flexipass: 50 single journeys over one year between Edinburgh and Glasgow (transferable)
  • For both types of tickets you must complete the date of travel section in ink before boarding the train or your ticket will be deemed invalid

Which routes can I travel on?

  • Flexipass tickets are available on all operators' services
  • 10 Journey Flexipass: Standard Class travel on over 95 key commuter routes in Scotland. You can also get First Class travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow
  • 50 Journey Flexipass: tickets are available for Standard or First Class travel between Edinburgh and Glasgow

Do I need to book in advance?
There's no need to book in advance when purchasing from the ticket booking office at a staffed station.

In other cases your Flexipass will be sent by post so isn't available to buy online less than two days in advance.

Our First Class areas don't have wheelchair accommodation and there's no wheelchair access to accessible toilets from First Class. To travel in First Class, wheelchair users would need to be able to transfer to a seat.
