When can I travel?
  • You can travel on a range of services seven days a week.
  • Your Friends Fare ticket is only valid for the train journeys shown on your ticket.
  • Return travel is valid for one month from the date of outward travel.
  • Both outward and return travel must be booked at time of purchase and seats will be reserved for your group.
  • All members of the group must travel together on both the outward and return journeys.
Which routes can I travel on?

Available for Standard Class travel on the following routes:

  • Aberdeen to Inverness
  • Aberdeen to Edinburgh/Glasgow
  • Inverness to Edinburgh/Glasgow

Available on ScotRail services only.

Do I need to book in advance?
  • Friends Fare must be booked no later than 6.00pm the day before travel. Tickets are subject to availability, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Yes.

  • Seats will be reserved for your group on your chosen trains at the time of purchase.

  • Children aged 5 - 15 are classed as one person. Under 5's travel free.

Can I make a change to my travel plans? Yes

  • You can change your travel plans before the outward journey subject to a £10 administration fee for each ticket.

Can I break my journey? No

  • You cannot break your journey other than for connectional purposes.
