Charity Partnership

We believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back.

That's why Scotland's Railway has established strong national charity partnerships, aimed at making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Who is our charity partner?

Scotland’s Railway is delighted to launch a three-year charity partnership with Age Scotland.

As Scotland’s national charity for older people, Age Scotland support, inspire and empower people over the age of 50. Their work is focussed on tackling loneliness and isolation, helping older people be as well as they can be and promoting positive views of ageing and later life.

Age Scotland provide information, advice and friendship via a free helpline and range of printed and digital guides. The charity supports a network of more than 500 older people’s community groups, promote age friendly workplaces and communities, deliver health and wellbeing programmes, and campaign on the issues that older people tell the charity are important to them.

Katherine Crawford, CEO at Age Scotland, said:

“We are thrilled to be chosen as Scotland’s Railway charity partner and look forward to an exciting three years working closely together. This is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of the work we do to support older people across Scotland.

“With the support of Scotland’s Railway and the thousands of staff across the network we can raise vital funds to tackle loneliness and isolation among older people, help older people engage with our services and live well in later life.”

Who decides our charity partner?

Scotland's Railway invited charities to engage in our selection process, and the final selection of our charity partner, Age Scotland, was entirely guided by our people.

What are the benefits of working with a charity partner?

Through our charity partnership, we aim to harness the collective strength of Scotland's Railway to create positive change.

There are 7,500 employees across Scotland’s Railway, and our people help to raise vital funds for our charity partner in several ways, including through hosting fundraising events, taking part in challenges, volunteering for the charity, or through payroll giving.

Our customers can also raise funds for the charity by donating via collection cans at stations.

We help raise awareness of our charity partner and their mission by promoting them across our business, as well as at our stations and on our trains.
