Upcoming sports events

Sports fans have a lot to look forward to year-round in Scotland.

Here we'll pick out some of the very top events currently on the horizon, with tips on reaching them by train.

Our top tips for travelling to events:

  1. Buy your ticket before you board. You’ll need a valid ticket for travel, and checks will be in place at many stations.
  2. Check your train times. Remember to leave time to catch any connecting services that you need.
  3. Listen up! We’ll have extra staff on the ground to help things go smoothly. To help them help you, please listen to their instructions.
  4. Download the ScotRail app. You can use it to buy tickets, check train times, and see live service information.
  5. Don’t leave it too late – services will be busy, and you might not be able to board your first choice of train.

We're really looking forward to helping you travel to and from Hampden Park to see the Scotland women's nation team take on England on Tuesday, 5 December (KO 7.45pm).

Please plan ahead, leave extra time for travel, and check your journey in advance as services are expected to be busier than normal with regular customers travelling home, so please be patient while staff help everyone board safely.

Queueing systems may be in place at Glasgow Central before the event and at Mount Florida after the final whistle.

When the match ends, please head back to Mount Florida station as quickly as possible.

To reduce the need to queue on the day, we'd encourage you to buy your return train tickets to Mount Florida in advance via the mTicket system on the ScotRail app.

Buying tickets through the mTickets system means you can buy your tickets from the comfort of your home or on the way to the station and it will instantly become available on your mobile device.

We'll have extra staff on hand to assist you, and please remember that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.

Nearest stations:

Dalmarnock: for Glasgow Central, Motherwell, and Lanark.

Bellgrove: for Glasgow Queen Street, Airdrie, Cumbernauld, and Edinburgh Waverley.

To help everyone get where they want to be, we’ll have two queues in place at Dalmarnock station after the game.

If you’re heading in to the city centre, please join the queue on Swanston Street. If you’re going towards Motherwell or Lanark, you’ll need to use the queue at the front of the station.
