Art Collection Open Day - Inspired! Theme

Join the Art Collection for our annual Open Day on Saturday 25 May. The Open Day is the highlight our year and celebrates the creativity of our students and community and our theme of the year. Each year, the Art Collection explores a theme, this year’s theme has been Inspired! Campus and Collections as Inspiration in which we have investigated how the beautiful university of Stirling campus and our collections have inspired creative thought and action.

Programme of Events

Lino Print Workshop with Abbie Lois

Back by popular demand! Join Abbie for a relaxed session of lino cutting and printing. Beginners and more practiced printers are all welcome.

Campus Photography Workshop with Michael Prince

Join experienced photographer Michael for a photowalk around the campus. Michael will be giving pointers on landscape photography and helping you to create your own shots. All levels are welcome, but you will need your camera.

Curator’s Tour

Join the Art Collection team for a relaxed tour of the current exhibitions. A great opportunity to see the exhibitions and introduce (or re-introduce!) yourself to the collections and hear about what’s coming up.

Family Friendly Collage

Ages 4 and up are welcome to drop-in for some creative activities, inspired by the exhibitions, lead by experienced facilitator Viviene Low

This workshop was kindly designed by Hannah Ayre – www.hannahayre.co.uk

Pathfoot Project Performance

Each year the art collection invites students from MLitt Creative Writing (Stirling University) and Composition (Royal Conservatoire Scotland) to create new work, inspired by the exhibitions. This new writing and music will be performed for the first time by Nordic Viola.

Exhibition Launch Memoria

Our Open Day will conclude with the formal opening of a new exhibition Memoria by award-winning artist Audrey Grant. Audrey has been Artist in Residence at the University of Stirling for the 2023/24 academic session and has been exploring the deep history of the Airthrey Estate. Memoria includes film, overpainted photography and installation to create a new imagined landscape and encourages the visitor to consider the landscape and its ability to hold our history in its layers.

Free and just turn up. Refreshments will be served at 3:30pm from the Crush Hall.
