Glasgow Life Museums' Art Competition for Young People

Calling all budding young artists!

Glasgow Life Museums’ prestigious Annual Art Competition is open to children aged 3-18 who are invited to visit our museums to paint or draw. From Egyptian artefacts to Victorian transport, and contemporary art to medieval armour, our collections have something to inspire all ages and interests!

Participating venues for 2024 are:

· Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

· Riverside Museum

· Gallery of Modern Art

· The Burrell Collection

· St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art

How does the art competition work?

· Young people aged 3 – 18 years old can participate, either as part of a school group or in their own time

· Artworks can be created using any drawing materials including pastel, pen, crayon or water-based paint. Paper must be A2 sized or smaller. Pencils only at The Burrell Collection please

· Entrants must bring in their own materials but are able to borrow clipboards from the museum

· Artworks must be created within the venue and should be handed in at the museum enquiry desk before you leave. Remember to complete a label with your child/pupil’s details and attach to the back of the entry. Labels will be available at participating venues.

· Entries are judged within age bands and medal winners will be invited to an award ceremony in the autumn

· ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY TUESDAY 4TH JUNE AT THE LATEST.

The Annual Art Competition is generously supported by the Friends of Glasgow Museums
