VRï

Specialising in unearthing tunes and melodies from Wales’s past, folk trio VRï creates toe-tapping rhythms with elegant finesse.

Three-piece folk band VRï has unearthed fragments of Welsh songs and melodies from over two hundred years ago, allowing them to shed new light on forgotten music. Testament to the old Welsh meaning of their name – which translates as ‘uplifting’ – VRï combines the energy of a rowdy pub music session with the composure of a Viennese quartet.

VRï perform in celebration of Welsh traditional music and dance, which has survived attempts at eradication at various stages of history, including the rise of the Methodist Church in the 18th and 19th century. Sung with gorgeous vocal harmonies, their lyrics tell the struggles of the people and the unwavering sense of community from a bygone time.

Discover VRï’s exhilarating and toe-tapping sound in their International Festival debut.

Supported by SIR EWAN AND LADY BROWN together with FLURE GROSSART.
