ScotRail announces winners of amateur photography competition

Last updated: Thursday, 30 November 2023

ScotRail received more than 300 entries from almost 200 people in its first ever amateur photography competition.

People from across Scotland took part in the competition, showcasing some of the fantastic imagery on and around Scotland’s Railway.

The competition invited entries in four categories, and after the judging process, the winners are:

  • Every day – Anja Steele.
  • Scenic – Sam Bilner.
  • View from the window – Mark Wadsworth.
  • Under 16s – Kyle Tricker.

The various categories allowed budding photographers to look for the best photos from ScotRail trains, at stations, or in some of the more scenic areas around the railway.

Prizes for the winners include free tickets for travel anywhere in Scotland on ScotRail services, with the Under 16 winner securing a free family ticket for travel too.

All of the images can be viewed on the ScotRail website at scotrail.co.uk/photo.

David Ross, ScotRail Communications Director, said:

“We are always looking for ways to engage with customers on social media, and this was a great opportunity for them to show us what they love about traveling with ScotRail.

“The response to the competition was fantastic, and the judges were impressed by the high quality of the entries.

“We will be showcasing the winning images in the coming weeks, and we thank everyone who took the time to take part in the competition.”
