Young Scot National Entitlement Card - 16 to 18
1/3 OFF rail fares with the Young Scot National Entitlement Card
If you're aged 16-18 and have a Young Scot National Entitlement Card, you can get fantastic discounts on your train travel in Scotland. This includes 1/3 off most rail fares and 50% off weekly and monthly tickets.
Discounted tickets are now only available using a Young Scot National Entitlement Card with the latest smart chip. The easiest way to tell if your card has the new chip is to look for a pink strip over the date of birth. If you don’t see a pink strip visit young.scot/upgrade for information on how to get a new card. You can also update your photo at the same time.
This new card doubles up as a ScotRail Smartcard. Simply load your tickets onto your Young Scot card at a booking office, tap through the barriers and you’re good to go.

The card is completely free of charge. You can get yours at young.scot
You can get 1/3 off most rail fares including Anytime Day Return or Singles, Off-Peak Day Return and Super Off-Peak tickets. If you buy a monthly or weekly ticket you can get 50% off.
You need to show your card when you buy tickets at the ticket office or at a ticket check. If you don’t have your card, you will be charged the full fare price.
Unfortunately, if your card doesn’t have the pink strip you won’t be able to upload tickets to it. You can apply for a card with the pink strip at young.scot.
