Lost property and luggage
If you lose property at one of our stations or on our trains, you can call our lost property team on 0141 335 3276.
You can collect items left at stations and on trains from Glasgow Queen Street station - we sometimes charge a small fee for returning items to you. Unfortunately, we cannot send items to you in the post.
Please note: Items left at Glasgow Central or Edinburgh Waverley will be stored at these stations.
If you have left items on trains run by another operator, you'll need to contact them directly.
What luggage can I take on the train?
You can carry up to three items of personal luggage free of charge. These include two large items (such as a suitcase or rucksack), plus one item of hand luggage.
You can also take:
- Up to two dogs, cats or other domestic animals
- Folded prams, non-folding prams and carrycots
- Wheelchairs, including battery operated models where wheels are no larger than those on self-propelled wheelchairs
- Any article which does not exceed one metre in any dimension and which can be carried by one person
What if I have more luggage than the free allowance?
We may charge you for extra items carried on our trains. This is the case for each additional item of luggage, a dog, cat or other small animal over the free allowance, and each article exceeding one metre in any dimension.
The charge for any of the above items (except cycles) is half the adult fare of your ticket per item - subject to a maximum charge (presently £5 single, £10 return). No further discounts will be available for Railcard or Season Ticket holders.
Can I leave luggage at the station?
Several of our stations have left luggage lockers you can use. If you need help using them, a member of staff will be happy to assist you.
