Social Value

Our vision is to enable thriving, connected and resilient communities and destinations that are great places to live, work and visit.

Social value is the additional, wider and long-term societal, economic and environment benefits created by ScotRail in delivering our services and contributing to the long-term wellbeing and resilience of individuals, communities and society in general.

Our core purpose is the efficient, safe and sustainable movement of passengers to connect people and communities, and to drive economic growth.

We aim to operate responsibly and to make a difference to the customers and communities we serve. We aim to do this by developing and delivering our social value objectives and maximising the public benefit from our investment, operations and expenditure.

Our Social Value measures will align to our Sustainability strategy and the key priorities of the National Transport Strategy 2 and Common Social Impact Framework for Rail.

We are currently developing our key social value objectives and Action Plan via our Social Value Working Group, which includes staff from ScotRail and Network Rail.

This Social Value Action Plan will be available on this website at a later date.
