Coronavirus Travel Guidance

Last updated: Monday 18 April 2022

As we all continue to feel the impact of coronavirus, we’ll continue to play our part to ensure your safe journey and peace of mind.

Face coverings

It is recommended that face coverings are worn on all our trains and in stations. This is to help our customers and staff feel as safe as possible.

Plan ahead

Like all businesses, ScotRail is not immune to the impact of coronavirus on its staff. Please always check your journey on the website or ScotRail app before you travel.

We’d encourage you to continue to plan ahead when travelling with us. You should buy your ticket before you travel to limit contact and help reduce any queues in stations. It's easier than ever to do this with mTickets - available on our new App.

Please note that all customers must hold a valid ticket before boarding a train.

Don’t travel if you feel unwell

To keep everyone safe, we’d ask that you do not travel if you feel unwell. If you have coronavirus symptoms do not go to a station or board a train. Stay at home.

Cleanliness

Our staff are taking extra steps to ensure your safety, and the hygiene and cleanliness of our trains and stations remains a priority for us.

Looking forward

As we welcome more and more of you back to the railway, it's clear that travel patterns have changed and will likely continue to do so. In the coming months, we'll be working towards providing a timetable that reflects these new travel behaviours and best meets our customers' service needs.
