Ahmed Dickinson & Eduardo Martin

CITY OF SOUNDS and The Edinburgh Collective C.I.C. present:

Ahmed Dickinson & Eduardo Martin: an evening of classical guitar, in a wonderful acoustic in the city center.

"You are left with the sensation of being touched to the core by exquisitely played pieces" SONGLINES

Ahmed Dickinson teaches classical guitar at London College of Music. Described as “a true pioneer” (Classic FM Magazine), award winning London-based Cuban guitarist, Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas, is one of the finest performers of the Cuban classical guitar school. In Spring 2016, he will release his sixth album featuring Grammy nominee and fellow Cuban guitarist - Eduardo Martin - which they will subsequently tour across the UK and Europe.

Over the last 10 years, Ahmed has established a successful career in the UK, whilst maintaining a performance profile and strong links with Cuba. More recently, he has been building a reputation for his original compositional style and will be performing his latest works in a series of concerts later this year.

He has worked with acclaimed soprano Laura Mitchell, flamenco Jazz guitarist Eduardo Niebla, Cuban percussionist Hammadi Rencurrell, violinists Emma Blanco, the Santiago Quartet, and led the Cuban Guitar Orchestra Sonantas Habaneras in Havana for two years.

Eduardo Martin has written for guitar in various combinations from duos to guitar orchestra. He has written for theatre plays and for cinema. Since 1991 he has successfully toured Cuba, South America and Europe giving concerts and master classes with great acclaim from both critics and the public in general. He is a regular adjudicator on international competitions and a guitar professor at ISA, (Instituto Superior de Arte) Havana. His works have been published in Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Canada & USA.

“Within my musical congregation I regard Eduardo as the Piazzolla of Cuban Guitar. Only individuals with an impressive level of sensibility can convey such degrees of happiness, pleasure and melancholic love to life and to a nation…. I am happy to say that Eduardo only creates masterpieces” Oscar Ghiglia, WORLD RADIO GENEVA, SWITZERLAND.
