ScotRail launches exciting new Inspiration Hub and days away campaign

Last updated: Monday, 14 August 2023

ScotRail is launching a new campaign, ‘Go by train’, to encourage more people to choose rail when planning days away in Scotland.

From today (Monday, 14 August), people can use the train operator’s new Inspiration Hub, an exciting new online resource with hundreds of ideas for things to do, upcoming events, discounts, and offers all within easy reach of more than 300 train stations across Scotland.

Whether people are looking for an outdoors adventure, a new dog walk, some history and culture, or a way to entertain the kids, the ScotRail Inspiration Hub can help to make it happen.

Jam-packed with hundreds of ideas, all showing the nearest train station, details on train tickets, and other information, the Hub aims to make it as easy as possible to help plan an exciting day trip or short break in Scotland.

The national advertising campaign, which centres around a TV advert, aims to provide inspiration by giving a taste of the wide range of destinations and attractions that can be easily accessed by rail.

Claire Dickie, ScotRail Head of Retail, said:

“Travelling by train is a fantastic way to experience everything Scotland has to offer, and this exciting new campaign will help to bring those opportunities to life.

“We hope the ‘Go by train’ campaign will help spark imaginations and show the fantastic experiences the railway can make possible. Our new Inspiration Hub will make it easier than ever before to find attractions, upcoming events, discounts, and things to do, all within easy reach of our stations.

“We are looking forward to inspiring more and more people to go by train, and our hardworking ScotRail team will be on hand to help customers enjoy their days away.”

Fiona Hyslop MSP, Minister for Transport said:

“Taking the train is a fantastic way to see all that Scotland has to offer, and it can often be a more relaxing way of travelling than going by car. With ScotRail now in public ownership, we want to make sure that not only is it a success but also offers added value to existing passengers, and attracts new ones.

“This campaign supports this aim and ScotRail’s new Inspiration Hub will help achieve this by making it simple to find great ideas for days out at value for money prices. Our peak fares pilot, coming this October, means we are making ScotRail even more attractive for hard-pressed families.”
