Stonehaven Incident

Information on the derailment near Stonehaven on 12 August 2020


On Wednesday,12 August, the 06.38 Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street ScotRail service derailed in the Stonehaven area.

To mark the passing of our colleagues, Brett McCullough and Donald Dinnie, and our passenger, Christopher Stuchbury, Scotland’s Railway will fall silent for one minute at 09.43 on Wednesday 19 August. We'll be supported by colleagues across Britain, including Abellio UK and Network Rail.

We continue to support the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) with their investigation. An incident care team has been established and an information telephone line has been set up. Anyone concerned can call ScotRail on the following dedicated number for information – 0333 2122528.

If you are concerned about friends or family who may have been involved in the incident, NHS Grampian have also set up a Welcome Centre at Midstocket Church.
