Our Season Ticket Thank You offers a free week of travel for annual and monthly Season Tickets holders. If you hold or buy an annual or monthly Season Ticket, valid for at least one day in May, you'll be eligible to claim a free week of travel on your usual Season Ticket route.

How to claim

If you have a paper Season Ticket you must claim your free week of travel when you renew your eligible ticket. If you have a Smart Season ticket, you must claim your free travel offer/s online by 30 June 2017.

You can claim a free week of travel if you have an annual or monthly ScotRail Season Ticket valid for at least one day in May 2017. Your free week will be added when you renew your eligible Season Ticket after 1 May 2017.

  • Return to the station booking office where you purchased your qualifying Season Ticket to renew it
  • Your free week will be added to your renewal
  • Your renewal must also be a monthly Season or longer

You can claim a free week of travel if you have an annual or monthly ScotRail Season Ticket valid for at least one day in May 2017. Your free week will be added when you renew your qualifying Season Ticket online after 1 May 2017.

  • Log into your Season Ticket account
  • Ticket requirements: Enter your journey details and start date as normal
  • Ticket end date: Enter end date if applicable
  • Select ticket: Choose your ticket. Your renewal must also be a monthly Season or longer
  • Delivery: Select 'Paper ticket by post'
  • Photocard: Enter your Photocard number
  • Passenger Charter Discounts: Tick the box to confirm this is a renewal [IMPORTANT - this triggers your free week being processed]
  • Station name or supplier: Enter 'ScotRail website'
  • Payment: This screen will show the duration of Season Ticket you've applied for. It won't show the additional days. Your free week will be processed and the revised end date will appear on your paper ticket

You can claim a free week of travel if you have an annual or monthly ScotRail Season Ticket valid for at least one day in May 2017. The free travel offer includes additional travel benefits if you have a ScotRail Season Ticket on a ScotRail Smartcard, valid for at least one day in May 2017.

  • Log into your My ScotRail account
  • Your free travel offer/s will be presented on your dashboard
  • Click the 'Claim now' button next to an offer and fill out the short claim form
  • You'll receive a confirmation email detailing each claim
  • You have until 30 June 2017 to claim your free travel offer/s
  • You're eligible for a free Anytime Return ticket on ScotRail services between any two stations in Scotland (exc Lockerbie)
  • You're eligible for a free week of travel on your Season Ticket route
  • AND an Off-Peak Return trip on ScotRail services between any two stations in Scotland (exc Lockerbie)
  • You're eligible for a free week of travel on your Season Ticket route OR gift your week to a friend
  • AND two Off-Peak Return trips for you on ScotRail services between any two stations in Scotland (exc Lockerbie)

Free week of travel

Your free week will start immediately after your eligible Season Ticket expires.

OR, if you choose to gift your free week to a friend, you can pick a start date up to and including 30 June 2017.

Free return trips

You can choose outbound travel dates between 1 July and 30 September 2017.

No. The free travel offers are non-refundable, non-changeable and non-transferable.

The only exception is if you hold more than a monthly Season Ticket valid on any one day in May. In this instance you can choose to gift your free week to a friend when you claim your offer. It is non-refundable, non-changeable and non-transferable once claimed.

Sorry, no. Zonecards are not a ScotRail product and are not included in this offer.

Sorry, no. Only Season Tickets on ScotRail Smartcards are included in this offer.

If you have an eligible Season Ticket on your Club 50 Smartcard, you'll be eligible for all the relevant Season Ticket Thank You free travel offers.

If you have a Club 50 card but buy paper Season Tickets, you'll only be entitled to the offer open to paper Season Ticket holders.

If you buy a Smart Season Ticket, you can claim your free travel offer/s from the following day. This is to allow your account to update with your latest purchase. Log into your My ScotRail account to make a claim.

If you're a Smart Season Ticket holder, you have until 30 June 2017 to claim your free travel offer/s.

If you hold a paper annual or monthly Season Ticket, you can claim your free week of travel when you renew it.

Your Season Ticket must be valid on any one day in May 2017 to be eligible.

No. If your eligible Season Ticket is on paper, please return to your original retailer (online or station booking office) to renew it and claim your free week of travel. The free week will be added to your next paper Season Ticket.

If your Smartcard arrives during May 2017, and you buy and load an eligible Season Ticket onto it, then you can claim your free travel offer/s on Smartcard.

Your Season Ticket must be valid on at least one day in May 2017 to be eligible.

Your free week of travel will match the class of your eligible Season Ticket and cannot be upgraded.

All free return tickets are Standard Class.

You can claim a free week of travel on your usual Season Ticket route. For example, if you hold a monthly Glasgow to Edinburgh Season Ticket, your free week will also be from Glasgow to Edinburgh.

If you wish to travel to e.g. Inverkeithing, you will need to buy the relevant ticket from Edinburgh to Inverkeithing.

If you hold more than a monthly Season Ticket on Smartcard, you can chose to gift your free week to someone else. The recipient must also have a ScotRail Smartcard.

The free week of travel will be on the same route as your eligible Season Ticket. For example, if you have a Dunblane to Glasgow Season Ticket, you can only gift a free week on that route.

Your Season Ticket must be valid on at least one day in May 2017 to be eligible.

This first offer is designed to say thank you to our Season Ticket customers. We have a wide range of products to meet the needs of customers who travel regularly. If you're unsure if you're using the best ticket for your travel, check the Tickets pages of this website.

Smartcards are normally sent out within ten working days. If you haven’t received your card after this time, contact the Smartcard team on 0344 811 0141 who can check the status of your application. We may need to request a new photograph if your original photo was unsuitable.

In the first instance, ask a member of station staff to validate your Smartcard if possible before you start your journey. Failing this, a conductor on the train can validate your Smartcard.

Contact our Smartcard team on 0344 811 0141 as soon as you realise you’ve mislaid your card. The Smartcard team will cancel it and order a new one. We may charge a card replacement fee.
