Changes to Edinburgh-Glasgow via Falkirk High services

As we prepare for our brand new Hitachi Class 385 electric trains, you will start to notice some changes to our Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh via Falkirk High and Glasgow Queen Street – Edinburgh via Airdrie services.

All services on our timetable are planned to run, but from Monday, 26 February 2018 a limited number of services on the Glasgow Queen Street – Edinburgh Waverley via Falkirk High route will have fewer carriages than normal. This is because some of our existing trains on that route have reached the end of their lease and will transfer to operators elsewhere in the UK.

Once our brand new electric Hitachi Class 385 trains enter service we will return to full capacity – and actually increase the number of carriages we are able to run.

To provide customers with as much choice as possible, we have introduced a reduced £13 anytime day return fare for travel on the Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh via Airdrie route. If you're travelling Glasgow-Edinburgh (or vice versa) on that route, it will mean a return fare will be almost half the current price. This fare is available until 27 July 2018.

We would encourage you to:

  1. Plan your journey in advance, and consider getting an earlier or later service.
  2. Consider travelling on the Glasgow Queen Street – Edinburgh via Airdrie route on the low level, taking advantage of the reduced £13 fare (available until 27 July).
  3. Take a look at journeycheck.com/scotrail and @ScotRail on Twitter for the most up to date information before travelling.
