Poetry Reading Group

Calling all poetry lovers in Edinburgh – come and join us every second Monday of the month for our poetry reading group_._ From Queer and BAME voices, to Native American poets and poems in translation, our reading group will be an opportunity to explore an eclectic range of poetry.

No need to have read every poem from a collection or every collection from a poet! Come along for a casual conversation, to share interpretations and find meaning together.

Following from our conversation last month on Ben Lerner's brilliant essay _The Hatred of Poetry_ [/books/], our reading group will turn this May to his latest collection, _The Lights_. Written over a span of fifteen years, _The Lights_ records the pleasures, risks, and absurdities of making art and family and meaning against a backdrop of interlocking, accelerating crises.

From one of the most celebrated writers of his generation, the poems in this collection come to us as beacons, illuminating new possibilities of thought and feeling.

We hope to see you for a fascinating evening discussing poetry with something to drink and some nibbles!
