A group of ScotRail employees have trekked across the Great Wall of China to raise vital funds for MND Scotland.

Head of Customer Operations Phil Campbell, Customer Experience Support Kelly Long and Revenue Protection Manager Graeme Gordon joined 40 other MND Scotland fundraisers for the epic 6-day challenge.

The team raised £11,520.60 for the charity, including £2,750 matched funding from ScotRail.

Since MND Scotland were named as the official charity partner of the ScotRail Alliance – a partnership between ScotRail and Network Rail - in 2017, customers and employees have smashed the target of raising £50,000 for each year of the three-year agreement.

Phil, from Airdrie, said: “I’ve been really moved by the work that MND Scotland does, so being able to play a small part in helping with that work means a lot. ScotRail’s matched funding was a big help.”

Kelly, from Paisley, said: “I really wasn’t prepared for the sheer number of stairs, but I’m so pleased we done this for MND Scotland, it was a great experience.

“The funds we’ve raised will help fund future research and medical trials to find a cure for MND.”

Graeme, from Rutherglen, added: “I thought I’d prepared well by taking part in MND Scotland’s charity hill walks in the lead up to the trek, but I found it more challenging than I expected.

“The experience was tough, but it was absolutely worth it knowing we have helped others by doing it.”
