ScotRail and European Athletics Indoor Championships Glasgow 2019 have agreed an exciting new partnership deal for next year’s Championships, which comes to Glasgow in March.
Some of the world’s leading athletes will descend on Glasgow’s Emirates Arena between 1-3 March, as the Championships return to the iconic city for the first time since 1990. There will be 650 athletes from more than 45 nations setting their sights on glory.
ScotRail delivers more than 86 million passenger journeys across the country every year, meaning it won’t just be the athletes coming to Glasgow in March putting in the miles. In fact, ScotRail records over 1.6 billion passenger miles annually and now provides more greener, faster and longer services than ever before.
ScotRail will provide a fantastic source of promotional support for the upcoming Championships, with various hotspots in Glasgow receiving a new look with branding that includes some of Scotland’s favourite athletes.
Peter O’Connell, Head of Commercial Development at ScotRail said:
“We are delighted to partner such a prestigious sporting event which will attract visitors from all over Europe.
“Throughout the year, we regularly provide additional services to support major events and we are looking forward to be once again playing an important role in helping people travel to and from Glasgow.”
Billy Garrett, Director of Sport and Events at Glasgow Life and Co-Chair of the Glasgow 2019 Steering Committee, said:
